Morocco
ORLY AVINERI
April 10 – 21, 2027
You’re Invited!
You’re invited into a journey of place, rhythm, and creative unfolding.
Across twelve days, we move through Marrakech, Essaouira, and the Atlas Mountains - gathering, wandering, and creating in response to what reveals itself along the way.
THIS IS NOT JUST A WORKSHOP YOU ATTEND
It is a Journey You Move Through
This is not a single place you arrive to and remain.
It is a journey shaped by movement through landscape, through culture, and through your own creative process.
We begin in Marrakech, where colour and rhythm meet you at every turn.
We soften into Essaouira, where the sea opens space and time stretches.
We travel into the Atlas Mountains, where the landscape quiets, and something within you does too.
Each place offering a different way of seeing.
Each transition allowing what you gather to settle, shift, and take form.
The Difference
Where many retreats hold you in one place,
this journey unfolds across many.
Not more doing,
but more noticing.
Not more structure,
but a more intuitive rhythm between experience and creation
THE EXPERIENCE
A Layered Experience of Place, Culture + Creative Practice
Over twelve days, this journey is carefully designed to hold both structure and spaciousness.
You will be guided through:
curated stays in atmospheric Riads and intimate settings
shared meals that reflect the culture and rhythm of each place
walking explorations through medinas, coastal paths, and mountain villages
artisan encounters and moments of quiet gathering
four days of creative workshop with Orly woven naturally into the journey
This is not a schedule to keep up with,
but a rhythm to settle into.
TIME AS A MEDIUM
Twelve days allows something different to happen.
Time to arrive.
Time to open.
Time to move beyond first impressions.
Where shorter retreats hold you in a moment,
this journey allows you to move through many.

Transferring Word + Image
An alternative book making experience . . .
Words and images interplay in this 4-day workshop, nestled within a magnificent 12 day retreat. Both equally belong on the dance floor of expression: Raw, honest, energetic, and transcendent, from one form to another, changing each other’s lives, and in the journey, our own as well. In this gathering we’ll explore those intersecting elements on surfaces we’ll turn into rich little books, to hold in the palms of our hands, as nests of gatherings. Gentle transferring ways will be introduced among alternative book-binding and mixed media processes.

Between them, something begins to shift.
-
n Marrakech, the air feels layered with time, spice and dust, prayer and possibility. The ochre walls hold the heat of the day as the call to prayer drifts across rooftops, weaving through the labyrinth of the medina where artisans hammer, dye, and stitch stories into being. In Jemaa el-Fnaa, the pulse of the city gathers at dusk, lanterns flicker, voices rise, and the ordinary slips quietly into the theatrical. Beyond the rhythm, there are hidden courtyards where water moves gently through tiled fountains, and gardens like Majorelle Garden where cobalt and green offer a kind of visual exhale. Marrakech is a place of contrasts, intimate and expansive, chaotic and composed, where if you let yourself wander, you begin to feel the city not just as a destination, but as a living, breathing presence.
-
In Essaouira, the rhythm softens and stretches toward the sea. Salt air moves through the whitewashed medina, catching on blue shutters and weathered doors, carrying with it the cries of gulls and the steady hush of the Atlantic. Along the ramparts, waves crash against stone as if marking time, while below, the harbour filled with its iconic blue boats, hums with the quiet choreography of fishermen returning and repairing their nets. There is an ease here, a gentleness that invites lingering: long walks along the beach, wind tangling your hair, and unhurried afternoons where light shifts slowly across the walls. Essaouira feels like a place to exhale, a counterpoint to the intensity of inland cities, where the elements, the ocean, and the sky open something spacious within.
Nota Bene: this is a prospective itinerary. It is subject to modifications, local weather, new opportunities and the desires of the group.
